Doing Apologetics For Yourself by Randy Everist

If you are an apologist, have you ever asked yourself why you do apologetics?  In this featured article, by Randy Everist of Possible Worlds, he writes:

"You see, too many of us, on too many occasions, are doing apologetics for ourselves. What do I mean by that? I mean that sometimes we aren’t in it for the glory of God—we’re in it for the glory of ourselves."

What about you?  Everist continues:

"...for a Christian apologist, a misplaced focus on oneself is a reflection of a prideful heart. There are some consequences to this. These consequences may also function as tests for you. Try to ask yourself if these things apply, and if they do, why?"

You can checkout the consequences here.

This article provides a great self-assessment for the Christian case maker wanting to evaluate his or her motives.

Courage and Godspeed,
Chad

Just for fun: If you sound like this while doing apologetics, you are probably to focused on yourself!
